EDITORIAL POLICY

The Yankee Oracle Gazette presents a nexus of news, displaying a variety of issues and information which together assemble to form the basic theme of the issue.

Thus, we have modern journalism in which bits and pieces from various authors and sources are imported by the facility of electronic typesetting to become part of a larger whole.

In this issue, the central theme concerns perplexing events and “discoveries” connected with what we regard as “antiquity”, electromagnetism and/or primitive ritual which indicate there was some type of antediluvian tech culture on this planet prior to our present pre-history and terrestrial specifics. Systems of sophisticated commercial bartering also may pre-date known civilizations.

UNSOLICITED CONTRIBUTIONS to this journal are welcome. Your input will be selected on the basis of appropriateness to issue nexus themes as well as relevance of content and crafted style.  Editing of selected pieces is for redundancy or elegance and does not involve rewriting. Editorial commentary within the nexus carries a clear byline.

KNOT IN THE ROPE: HOODOO SORCERY UNRAVELED

By

E.Macer-Story

Intellectual Property Copyright 2004 Eugenia Macer-Story

As I understood from an informant who approached me at the Woodstock flea market on Saturday August 29, 2004 certain folk in the area are “attacking the image” of your present correspondent rather than attacking her person directly. This enigmatic warning, which was yelled across the field of peddler’s tents, racks and tables , made sublime sense in terms of recent “talisman finds” on my Woodstock property though to the surrounding crowd it may have seemed gypsy madness.

Therefore I release on the web, prior to hard copy publication in the Fall Equinox issue of the Yankee Oracle Gazette , a color photo of one of these talismanic offerings since it takes the form of a folk hoodoo practice by chance known to E.Macer-Story from experiences in the South Central United States.

This is the hoodoo wonder magick practice of making a “knot in the rope” to hex-block the straightforward activities of some target individual and/or business. On September 3, 2004 such a hoodoo marking was found on a cement wall near the driveway entrance to the home of your present correspondent, where other such markings have previously been found.

Look closely at the figure in silver paint in the photo. This is fluid (probably silver paint mixed with some type of hex potion). It reflects the noon sunlight and may contain actual silver or metallic particles. Because a trail of this potion is visible on the side of the wall beside the house driveway where it was found, it can be discerned that the pouring or “daubing” was done from the upper right (North) placing a “knot” in the line literally by circling with the vial, and then off to the lower left (South) of the photo. One does not “unknot” such a hex as it is permanently fused by the drying of the potion. This is the type of Nordic sorcery and/or alchemical practice alluded to in the legend of the “binding” of the demon Fenris “by a ribbon”. However, I am matching and returning this attempt to attack my “image” (i.e.: public career) by placing an image of this daubed hex in public view, with a brief explanation.

This was not the first such talismanic effort to be found on that full moon weekend.

On August 30, your present correspondent emailed Scott Corrales, editor of Inexplicata: Journal of Hispanic Ufology to relate the following incident:

I was busy here going through old files in a pre-Labor Day clearing of the decks and ventured out into the back yard in Woodstock only an hour ago at about 3:30 p.m. Wearily, I noted that there WAS a small, white a-symmetrical but V-shaped object of thin ceramic or white shale at he foot of the back steps. I walked over to the back driveway and found....a large white caped mushroom which had been inserted into the soil rather than growing at the side of the drive. I picked it up and was amazed to see that the slatted ruff below the cap was blue with paint still wet from the damp ground. I brought itr inside an photographed the two items with a digital camera. I'm glad I did this immediately .For in the intervening hour in the warm house the paint has dried to a more grayish color.
The matter of concern is not the painted mushroom OR the tiny glider-shaped charm...but the mentality BEHIND these items. I had guests during the weekend who parked their car in that driveway. Evidently, the perpetrator(s) were jealous of the guests or trying--as I have suspected--to block my normal social contacts.
This IS the full moon day.

I did not in this initial message inform Scott Corrales that the driver of the car parked in the back drive at my place had noticed people on motorcycles following the car as we meandered about the area on a holiday expedition, on a roundabout way to Wilson State park to go swimming. We had joked about the cyclists because, dressed in light colored summer attire and white plastic bicycle crash helmets or no helmets, they did not have the appearance of a gang . But at the same time I had felt inwardly uneasy because we did pass a goodly number of classic bikers hanging out at an intersection of Highway 28 with the route to Lexington , N.Y. as we swung around to head back toward the town of Phoenicia and Wilson State Park . One of these individuals was actively using a pay phone there as cell phones do not work in that upstate New York area. I suppose that a person can relay a car ID over an anonymous calling card connection quite easily, and that they are free to do so. I am also free to record this observation.
Scott Corrales, like the guest who was driving the car, noticed a mundane aspect of the “blue mushroom” talisman that I had not initially recognized. Originally, I thought of Lewis Carroll’s “
Alice in Wonderland” and the droll song about “painting the roses red…” It occurred to me that perhaps the author of “Through the Looking Glass” ,like certain contemporary British physicists, was also familiar with arcane forms of sorcery.

For on August 31, 2004 Corrales responded:

It certainly sounds like what Hispanics everywhere would recognize as "un trabajo" (a charm) that someone placed there with clearly unkind intentions. You're right about the full moon -- Full Moon in Pisces, my personal nemesis. I got in to arguments, was served rancid spaghetti at my favorite restaurant, and my basement flooded...all within a 24 hour span…Don't Muslims paint the doors to their homes blue to ward off demons? Especially if there are children in the house? I seem to recall something from The Golden Bough...

I then researched this aspect and found that in several traditions, including the “lucky mojo” tradition, blue dye is used to hold evil spirits in check. Since I had photographed the blue dyed mushroom and thus retained the fresh image of the “working” I then focused mentally to repel the “evil spirits” of those who had trespassed upon my property, using the image of the talisman as my fulcrum to reverse the negative focus of the aggressor(s).

In context of the email dialogue with Scott Corrales, who has also written articles about neo-Fascist subterfuge in Europe and South America, the friendly bantering jogged my memory and I recalled glimpsing near a parking lot in upstate New York a few days prior to the “blue mushroom” incident an Iranian consultant familiar with the U.S. from study here who had presented at a scientific conference in Athens in July, where your present correspondent also presented a paper with implications in the use of subtle energies in the field of nano-technology.

I have in the past written published articles on Zoroastrian philosophy and certain Iranians of a more traditional background may find my work challenging enough to try a modern blue mushroom “lucky mojo” hex. .I hope this is not a mushroom cloud symbology as in atomic power disputes because my work indicates that, as in the successful use of traditional “image magick” the impact of thought on material structure can be enhanced under certain conditions, as in the practice of nano- feng shui.

As to a connection between modern Arabic research and ancient Nordic traditions such as “Knot in the Rope” spellbinding, the reader should be aware —according to East German spymaster Marcus Wolf in his autobiography—that at one time during the 1970’s there was a secret rocket-production plat in Egypt near Cairo which had been built by an Austrian firm with the help of “Pilz” a former colleague of the German rocket scientist Wernher Von Braun. Of course, Von Braun was also a Nazi elitist before being imported to the United States to work on designing rockets during the Cold War arms race.

So now that we are in the non-local “subtle energy” race, there may be a significant parallel circumstance emerging through the looking glass of a mutual appreciation of the potential effects of ancient alchemical and spirit contact practices applied to modern equipment.
